London – My favorite place to be

London is one of the greatest cities in europe. I’ve been to London 4 times now, and there are still things left that I want to do. It’s just amazing!

Since we’ll visit London in a few weeks, I’ll show you, what I love to do in London and what you have to see when you visit it.

Sightseeing

When you first get to London, you want to see as much as you can. London is really great for sightseeing, there is so much to see and there are many different ways to explore the city: Bus, boat, walking – everything is possible. Even though I have been to London several times, I always like to see the sights of the city.

I like to walk along the promenade of the Thames. If you start at the Tower Bridge and walk towards the London Eye, you already pass many great sightseeings of London: Tower of London (where I have never been before, maybe we should have a look this time đŸ™‚ ), Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, HMS Belfast (Museum), The Shard (I would like to have a look at that, the view from above should be fantastic), Borough Market, Saint Paul’s Cathedral…

View at the London Eye

Of course, a city tour by bus is a must. There are these Hop-On-Hop-Off buses everywhere, so you can get on and off as you like, lean back and enjoy the view.

Here’s a tip: We once did a city tour ‘London by night’ and that was really awesome! The city appears completely different at night, the tour is worthwhile in any case.

Another good possibility is a boat trip on the Thames. There are many ways to book a boat tour on the Thames, especially near the London Eye. You get a completely different view of the city if you’re going by boat. We once made a different tour called ‘the London Duck Tours’. It’s a city tour with a kind of amphibian vehicle through the city, then the vehicle drives into the river and there you have a short boat trip on the water. We did this two years ago and were thrilled. It was really a lot of fun and is really off the ordinary.

Relax and visit the surroundings

If I need a time off from all these sightseeing tours, I love to relax in one of the amazing parks of London. The most famous is probably Hyde Park. I just like to lie on the meadow, relax and watch the world around me.

What I also like to do is to stroll through the small streets of London (yes, that’s how we found the Borough Market on our first visit đŸ™‚ ) and maybe have lunch in a small pub around the corner. This is the epitome of a cosy holiday, explore things without constantly running around and being afraid to miss something.

But the best thing I found so far was the boat trip to Greenwich. There we strolled comfortably through the old, historical city, far away from the noise and stress of the city centre of London. The view from the observatory on top of the mountain down to London City is really beautiful.

Great food and Markets

There is one thing that no visit to London should be without: good food in the markets of London. I love the Borough Market near London Bridge. Great food and a wide selection of food is gathered at this market in the heart of London.

Beside the market there is another place where I really like to eat: the Hard Rock Cafe near Hyde Park. The atmosphere there is really great, not too big, really cosy. If you want to eat there, I recommend to book in advance, it is difficult to get a place there, the restaurant is very popular.

I am already looking forward to the London trip and am curious what we will discover this time.
