6 Watercolor Bookmark Ideas

You can always use bookmarks, especially if you like to read as much as I do. This Weekend I sat on the balcony, opened my book and realized that I was only using a loose piece of paper as a bookmark. Somehow that bothered me, so I started working on some Watercolor bookmarks.

By the way: The bookmarks are also great to give away to bookworms πŸ™‚

Supplies used

I used the following supplies for my bookmarks:

Watercolor Set

Lets go…

First I sketched the outlines of the bookmarks on the paper and cut them out in the right size. Here you can use quite different sizes, my bookmarks have the size 14 cm x 4.5 cm.

And you’re ready to go. There are no limits to the design of the bookmarks, here you can really let off steam. I have tried out different designs according to my mood. Different watercolour techniques can also be used.

Bookmark with gradient Background

I painted a gradient background of my favorite color. After drying, I added a lettering with my new white gel pen (Signo Uniball White): #currentlylyreading πŸ™‚

Watercoloreffect Bookmark

These bookmarks are made with some Water and Tombow Dual Brush Pens. I painted a laminated paper (you can also use a zip-lock bag) with the Tombow Brush Pens and then sprayed some water on it. Then I pressed my bookmark on it and moved it back and forth to spread the paint. The result was a nice watercolor effect, created with the Tombow Brush Pens.

Many beautiful bookmarks for many beautiful and exciting books. And the good thing about it: there are endless possibilities to design them!

Tip: If you laminate the bookmarks at the end, you will enjoy them longer πŸ™‚
