Blogiversary – My first year of blogging

Once upon a time… in 2018, I decided to start a blog. I wanted to write about my hobbies and lifestyle and whatever is going on in my life.
And here I am: It’s my one year blogiversary 🙂

How it all started or ‚Previously on Sarahs-Journal‘

On October, 2nd 2018 I wrote my first blog post on Sarahs-Journal. I started to talk about the bullet journal system, how the system helped me to organize my daily tasks and organize my life. I wanted to help others to organize their life’s with this great system too.

I tried to wrote a blog post every week, so that my readers can looking forward to it.
After a few weeks I had to realize: Ok, I don’t have the time to create my content that regularly as others may can. I have a fulltime job, housework to do and an amazing boyfriend I want to spent time with.
So there was a blog post just once or twice a month and I really struggled to keeping up with it.

Sometimes I thought, ok, that’s it, I can’t do this anymore, there’s nobody reading my content, so why keeping up with it? ‚Because it makes you happy when you can share your story“ – and that’s it.

So now I’m writing about DIYs, Bullet Journaling and Traveling, but who knows? Maybe there will be more categories to write about in the future…

First I started to write my content in german. But then I wanted to improve my english too, so I wrote my posts in english in addition (nice side-effect: my audition expands a lot) . After a few month of bilingual blogging, I switched to english posts only, because it takes too much time to write content in two languages – although my english isn’t perfect at all 😀

Blogging is a hard business

For everyone trying to run blog: blogging is a hard business. Especially if you want to earn  money with it, you have to create good and regular content for your readers. There are so much websites and blogs out there, so your blog will be one in a million – make it something special or the WWW-Universe will swallow it right up.

I never thought, that blogging is that hard and I’m running my blog just for fun, so it’s ok for me if only a handful of readers will read and follow my content. It’s really hard to keep motivated and create content that others would read. I’m always struggling finding the right balance between writing the content my readers may want to read and the story I want to tell.

Another time consuming part of blogging is to take nice pictures for your posts. I decided to create my own pictures and gosh, it takes more time and effort as the whole post writing itself. Finding the right photo idea, setup the photo, take the photo, photo editing etc. Now I’m using free Stock photos (find them here and here) more and more to save time.

Looking forward

Ok, what’s next? Honestly, I don’t know. I’ll running my blog as long as it makes me happy to create content and share my experience and story with others. I don’t know where it leads me, but I’m looking forward to the 2nd Birthday of Sarahs-Journal 🙂
